Chris Keuscher has done an amazing job at building sustainability and team pride within our Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors program at Volunteer Connections. In the past year, the program has far exceeded its goals in assisting the community with health insurance questions due to his ability to recognize, lead and empower the volunteers serving. The program has had many successes due to his example of service to the community.
The Human Services Council’s Retired & Senior Volunteer Program was recently selected as a grant recipient. The $4,000 grant was provided by the Washington Corporation for National & Community Service. Grant funds will be used to enhance a new outreach effort to local veterans and their families. Particular focus will be on career mentoring and resource & referral. Support will be delivered through the RSVP Community Action Team (C.A.T.), also a new program.
For more information, please contact the RSVP Coordinator, Michael Holroyd at michaelh (at) hsc-wa.org.
HSC’s Sponsor-A-Ride Program recently received a $2,500 grant from The Nonprofit Network’s Giving Circle. The goal of SAR is to provide efficient transportation services to meet the needs of seniors getting to medical appointments, social activities, shopping trips, senior centers and meal sites. Transportation options and methods are determined based on the client’s needs and can include door-to-door curb transport, transportation chaperone, and training on how to use the transit system. Thank you, Giving Circle Ladies!
